FINCH UNIT TRIP TO COMMUNITREE

The first week back after Easter, the Finch unit will be visiting Communitree in Bury.

Tuesday, 17th April                   -          Goldfinch Class

Wednesday, 18th April              -          Green finch Class

Friday, 20th April                      -          Rosefinch Class.

Coaches will leave school at 9.00am and return for a normal finish at 3.30pm.  Children should be in full school uniform and have a packed lunch from home unless one has been ordered from school.

 

SAT’s WEEK

Please note during the week beginning Monday, 14th May 2018, our year 6 children will be involved in SAT’s tests.  It is very important that all children are in school during this week as tests can only be taken on certain days. More information will be sent out closer to the time.

 

CROSSGATES COOKS FOR KIDS

We are currently working on new menus but for the time being, when we return after the Easter holiday, we will be continuing with the current ones and we will be on week 1.

 

SPORT RELIEF

We had a great week completing all the ‘Daley’ challenges, ending on Friday when the teachers took part in their own challenges – Human Hungry Hippos, Donuts on a String and an Egg & Spoon 3 legged obstacle course, which the children loved!  Thank you for all the donations for Rochdale Food Bank.  I am sure you will agree this is a great cause, helping local people.

MUSIC FESTIVAL

Over the past couple of weeks the children have been representing Crossgates at the Rochdale Music festival.  The Guitar group finished first with Honours, the Choir achieved Commended in the 2-Part section and second with Highly Commended in the Unison section. The Brass ensemble achieved Commended.  The Steelband finished first with honours.  I am sure you will agree these are all fantastic results!   Well done to all those involved and a big thank you to Mrs. Alker, Mr. Dixon and Mr. Bond.

 

EASTER HOLIDAY

Just a reminder that we finish for Easter today and return to school on Monday, 16th  April, at 8:45am.  Have a great break – let’s hope we have some good weather!

 EASTER EGG HUNT

Our Parents and Friends Association have organised an Easter Egg Hunt.  Quiz sheets are on sale at the office priced £1 and will contain clues to lead to different letters located around school.  Once you have all the letters, put them together to make an Easter themed word and hand your sheet, complete with word, back into the office.  Winners will be picked per unit out of a hat.  Entries must be in by Wednesday, 28th March.  Good Luck!

BEFORE SCHOOL TENNIS CLUB

After half term, tennis will restart for Year 1 and 2 children.  The club will be on Wednesday mornings from 8.10 – 8.45am.  Anyone who would like to attend should complete and return the consent form sent home on Monday.

SPORT RELIEF

Week beginning Monday, 19th March, children will have chance to take part in ‘Daley’ sporting challenges set by Tom Daley; for example Hula Hoopla Monday and Skipathon Tuesday, all building up to a teachers vs teachers challenge. On Friday, 23rd March, children can come dressed in their own sports clothes.  This year we are supporting Rochdale Food-bank which helps local families and we ask that each child brings a tin or packet food item donation (shop bought with a sell-by date on please).  

Cakes will be sold for 20p at break time.  Wristbands are on sale in the school office - £1.

We will also be having a special ‘Sports Relief Day Buffet Lunch’ at the usual price of £2.10.  The menu will be:

ABSENCE DUE TO SICKNESS/ DIARRHOEA

Could we please remind parents that if your child is sick or has diarrhoea they must be kept off school for a minimum of 48 hours from when it stops to ensure that it is not passed on to others.  Thank you.

Due to the poor weather recently, the school field is very wet. I am afraid we have had to cancel this until the summer term.

PARENTS & FRIENDS ASSOCIATION

ROCHDALE MUSIC FESTIVAL

Over the next couple of weeks, children from Crossgates will be involved in the Rochdale Music Festival at the Town Hall in Rochdale. All the events are during the school day and the children will be taken to/from the Town Hall by coach.
